Luke Davison wins the Goulburn To Sydney 2012
Luke Davison of Team Budget Forklifts wins the 170 kilometre Goulburn to Sydney Classic after his storming performance during the race.
He completed the pursuit to Camden in a total time of 3 hours, 59 minutes and 31 seconds and restricted the race favourites.
Scott Law of Team Illawarra CC finished second with Anthony Giacoppo of Team Genesys Wealth Advisers, Glen O’Shea of Team SASI and Jared Triggs of Team Southern Cross CC achieving the second, third, fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
Giacoppo closes in on Davison in final 200 metres but was restricted by Scott Law who jumped in to secure the second position.
"I just looked for the finish line; I don't worry about who's doing what, with 200 metres to go, you've just got to go,” the race winner noted after crossing the finish-line.
"It's great to re-pay the boys for all the hard work they did today."
"I didn't get my hopes up I just did my best," he said.
"I think after the finish today it's the first time I really savoured the win and had a really good thought about it".
The Australian under 23 Criterium Champion has just returned home after completing a busy season in Europe where he rode for the trading Team An Post-Sean Kelly.
The 21-year-old was delighted with the second place finish, "It was a great result today considering I was probably one of the only ones who was by myself," he told Cyclingnews. "Hopefully there's better things to come".
Aaron Donnelly of Team Illawarra CC and Rhys Pollock of Team Drapac Professional Cycling wins the Sprint and KOM classifications with Team Budget Forklifts winning the team’s classifications.
