Luke Donald, Lee Westwood or Adam Scott – who is likely to win a Major Championship?
These days, one of the brainteasers boggling the minds of many among the golf community, the world over, is whether Luke Donald, Lee Weswood or Adam Scott will win a major next year.
There is little unknown about the capability and the fine skill set that each golfer boasts. Nevertheless, shedding some light on their accolades will further illuminate their brilliance.
The Englishman, Luke Donald is highly accomplished golfer. He turned professional back in 2001. His presence on the fairways is a major threat for the other players because Donald can exhibit some excellent golf on his good days.
The Englishman has won fourteen professional tournaments, including five titles on the PGA Tour, to his acclaim.
Although he has never won a major championship, he has produced decent results. His best result in the Masters Tournament was when he shared third position in 2005.
In 2006, he came in twelfth place in the U.S. Open. The Englishman clinched the fifth spot in The Open Championship during his 2012 season.
Donald has won many awards during the course of his career. Some major achievements include, the PGA Tour leading money winner, Vardon Trophy, Byron Nelson award, PGA Player of the Year Award, European Golfer of the Year Award and the Member of the Order
of the British Empire.
His most recent achievement was the Member of the Order of the British Empire, which he received in 2012.
Lee Westwood is another Englishman whose performances on the course have made him one of the leading contenders in any field that he steps onto. The golfer who turned professional in 1993 has a total of 39 professional wins.
He has 2 Professional Golf Association Tour titles to his name and has amassed 22 European Tour titles, which stands as 9th on the all time wins on the European Tour.
The Englishman has not been able to win a major championship as yet. However, he has clinched positions within the top five of all the championships.
Westwood was honoured with the European Tour Order of Merit Award in the year 2000 and 2009. He is also a three-time European Tour Golfer of the Year award winner.
Adam Scott, the Australian golf professional is one of the few players on the Tour who are expected to win a major championship in the upcoming season.
The tall Australian has 19 professional tour titles to his name. He turned professional back in 2000 after a successful amateur career.
Scott has won eight times on the PGA Tour. Although he is still winless at the major championships, the 32-year-old Australian has had some great moments in the tournament as well.
Other than the U.S. Open, Scott has managed to finish within the top five in all other majors. In 2005, he won the Order of Merit Award of the PGA Tour of Australia.
There are many talented golfers on the field and the next season could be anybody’s game. The one, who comes out and performs on that very given day, usually gets to stand out and claim the title.
As far as the three mentioned golfers are concerned, there is not much that separated them. However, with experience on his side, Lee Westwood seems to have better chances to bag a major championship title.
The Englishman has all the shots in the book, he is a calm contender and most of the fellow golfers know that on any fine day, Westwood can steal the show with his exuberant display of golf.
As the 2013 season is about to start, every golfer will be eyeing his chances to triumph at one of the major golf tournaments.
