Luke Donald finishes the Invitational with four-under par
At the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, the best golfers in the world went head to head for glory. The venue for this prestigious event was the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, USA. The four day event teed off on the 2nd of August and it ended
on the 5th of August.
One of the players under the spot light for the invitational was the world number one, Luke Donald. Donald has been quite consistent and has been a top contender for any tournament he participates in. Donald was again looking to bag another trophy in the
tournament.
He had a good strong start to the tournament and was one of the leaders in the beginning. He managed to card seven birdies on the first day. His round also involved three bogeys, these made his score four-under par after the first day.
The second day was not as good as the first one but he still played very decently. His day involved three birdies and two bogeys. These made his score one-under par on the day and his total score climbed up to five-under par.
Donald’s third round was the worst one for him in the tournament. It was the only day in which he went over par. On the front nine, he had two birdies and two bogeys.
The back nine of the day was worse as he carded two birdies and three bogeys. These made his score one-over par for the day and his total score dropped to four-under par.
The world number one had a bad start to the last day of the tournament. He teed off with two consecutive birdies starting from the first hole. There was nothing else special on the front nine.
He entered the back nine with two-under par and wanted to turn his day around. He managed to score two birdies towards the end of the round.
These made his score par for the day and his total score was four-under par. He finished the tournament tied on the eighth position with seven other players. This was a very inconsistent game from the 34-year-old. He needs to improve in the coming tournaments
to stay on the top.
