Luke Donald hopes he is the Queen’s favourite, enters US Open under pressure!
Luke Donald is under enormous pressure as the world number one enters the US Open.
The British golfer has the entire England supporting him and his focus is on performing in the best way possible at the tournament.
Donald is the current world number one for a reason. His consistency has made him one of the most precise golfers of the current era. His ease with his strokes is a sight for other golfers, as precision has been the missing link in the current generation
of golfers.
The rivalry between Donald and the former world number one Rory McIlroy ended when Donald took the number one spot from McIlroy a few months ago.
McIlroy has been out of touch lately because of his hat trick of missed cuts. Jack Nicklaus gave the troubled golfer a helping hand by making him realise the missing link in his play.
“I know that there were times when I wasn't prepared and I got exactly what I deserved – nothing,” elaborated Nicklaus.
“The Golden Bear” made it pretty clear that the lack of preparation has caused McIlroy his stature and his number one spot as a golfer.
Woods went through the same course of advice and the world saw him win the Memorial in the best way possible. The flip-birdie remains his best shot that he has ever performed in his entire career.
Nicklaus has predicted Woods ruling the golf scene once again. He believes the former world number one still has what it takes to rule the world.
“I suspect (major title) No. 15 will come for Tiger Woods in about two weeks, if he drives the ball this way, and plays this way, I'm sure it will. And if not, it will surprise me greatly,” said Nicklaus earlier on.
Donald is under pressure, as he believes that the queen of England might be watching him represent England at the US Open.
“Hopefully I'm one of her favourites, not sure the Queen will be watching,” said Donald jokingly with the reporters.
Donald has to go through McIlroy and Woods, who are in top form these days. With England on his back, Donald may have a little too much pressure on his shoulders as he enters the US Open.
