Luke Donald looking to bag his first major at this year’s PGA Championship
It is once again time for the biggest major of the year, the 2012 PGA Championship. Kiawah Island Golf Resort, the Ocean Course is the venue for this prestigious event. The four-day event starts from the 9th of August and it will end on the 12th
of August.
The best players in the world of golf are going head to head on this stage for the biggest prize in golf. The major will be featuring many of the elite players of the world, the list also includes current world number one Luke Donald.
Donald is a player who has occupied the number one spot for quite some time now but he has not bagged any major titles as yet.
In the Tours, he has been giving outstanding performances. He has six worldwide wins in the past two years. In the past, however, he has not been able to show the same magic in the majors.
The English professional golfer’s best performance in the major was the tied third finish in the Masters Tournament, in the year 2005. Donald also finished tied third in the PGA Championship in the year 2006.
He is still looking to bag a trophy. This year once again, he will be trying his best to bag the most prestigious golf trophy. The 34-year-old will be coming for the major event with a positive attitude and with a winning approach.
In an interview he said, “In terms of my mental approach, I think yes. There was a little bit of a breakthrough, just realizing at the Open Championship that no matter how I'm hitting it physically, there's always a way to mentally be on top, to have that
control of how I want to feel come Thursday, how I want to approach the tournament with the correct mind-set”.
He also acknowledged the fact that this is going to be a close tournament as there is no one in the tournament who is better than the rest by a considerable margin.
“I'm not sure if it gives me too much more encouragement. I continue to focus on what I can do and hopefully give myself a chance on Sunday,” he added.
