Luke Donald out to make it four wins out of four at the Ryder Cup
When the former world number one, Luke Donald, tees off at Medinah Golf and Country Club it will be his fourth straight Ryder Cup. More importantly, he has been victorious in the previous three and is eager to make it four in a row.
Things will not be unfamiliar for Donald in Chicago. He has studied there for four years, he met his wife in this very city and furthermore, he has lived in Chicago for fifteen years. This is the place where he loves to be.
Donald has recently not been in the form that took him to world number one a year ago but he is doing well.
Chicago is rated as the most sports crazy city in America. Donald knows that playing here will be tough, as the fans will be right behind Team USA. Donald rates this Ryder Cup as the toughest of the four.
He stated, “I’ve played in three Ryder Cups and I think this is the biggest city in terms of the location and that'll make it a little bit more fun”.
It is a natural phenomenon that the home crowd tends to cheer its own team no matter what. However, at the same time, Luke knows that if Europeans play well, the fans will appreciate them as well.
"I think the fans will get behind this Ryder Cup and it'll make it tough for the Euros. They're going to be on the Americans' side, they'll be cheering hard but they're a fair crowd and hopefully they'll respect both teams”.
The Englishman knows that the only way they can counter the home advantage is by playing well and putting the Americans under pressure right from the start.
He added, "The home team's biggest advantage is the crowd support and if we can take that away a little bit, not just through my relationship with Chicago, but also playing well then that will be a slight benefactor for us".
Luke Donald is currently busy on the PGA tour and his outings with Tiger Woods have really helped him a great deal.
Donald knows that Olazabal is the best choice as a captain and he will deliver the goods in Illinois.
