Luke Donald scores 68 in round two of the Transitions Championship
Luke Donald is only three strokes behind the leader, Jason Dufner, after the second round of the Transitions Championship, at the Copperhead Golf Club, Innisbrook Resort and Spa.
The 34-year-old English professional golf player is in the field of the Professional Golf Association staged event, at Palm Harbor in Florida.
He teed off the tournament with a birdie and recorded a 4-under 67 in the first round on Thursday.
He displayed an amazing performance and cheered the spectators up with his five impressive birdies as well.
On Friday, the former world No. 1 scored a 3-under 68, by carding four birdies and a bogey.
He is playing well in Florida and after two rounds, he finished tied for the fourth position with four other players.
Donald was ranked at the leading position of the world rankings till the Honda Classic. Due to his mediocre performance since January, Donald faced a defeat from the young Northern Irish professional, Rory McIlroy.
McIlroy is not playing the Transitions Championship. However, he is in his full form and is finishing all the events in the top-10.
He impressively recorded his first win of this season, at the Honda Classic in Florida and claimed the No. 1 position at the Official World Golf Rankings.
However, Donald is doing a great job at the Copperhead Golf Club and striving hard to win back his ranking by winning the title.
Dufner is the current No. 1 on the leaderboard. He played tremendously well on Thursday and Friday.
He displayed amazing bogey-free rounds and secured the leading position. His enormous scoring of a 5-under 66 in both the rounds was laudable. He remains unbeatable.
He has carded 10 impressive birdies so far and was successful to maintain his lead at the end of the day.
"It was very stress free again," Dufner said. "I hit a lot of fairways and greens. It was a pretty easy 5 under again. Kind of a boring round, actually".
Padraig Harrington and William McGirt are currently tied at the second position. They are only two strokes behind the leader and are competing well for the title.
The competition is at its new highs. Now, all the players will be battling against each other on Saturday. Donald, Dufner, Harrington and McGirt are the hottest contenders of the title.
