Luke Donald sorry over twitter mishap
Luke Donald has not had the best of the seasons. His form has been on the decline and he lost his number one spot as well. He has not done overly well in the majors either. He has one victory and a third place finish on the PGA Tour so far.
Donald finished the Deutsche Bank Open poorly. After shooting a good first round, he failed to capitalize and ended up finishing at T26.
It is understood that Luke Donald was frustrated with his performance and he chose his cell phone to let lose his frustration. However, he did not know this little piece of technology can be so dangerous.
Former world number one bogeyed on the 18th hole on Monday and in order to vent out his anger, he tweeted, criticizing the designer of the golf course, Gil Hanse.
He, however, did not realize that this tweet was not a private one and it went public. By the time he realized, the water had passed over his head.
Immediately after realizing the blunder he had made, he apologized to Gil and to everybody else who was offended by his comments.
"Nothing quite like hitting my best shot of the day into the last and walking off with a bogie, what a terribly re-designed green #sour taste," said Donald in his first comment. He did not stop here and went two steps ahead when he said, "Gil Hanse is a
(expletive). Haha".
After realizing the mistake he had made, he quickly deleted the tweets. Nevertheless, it was too late. It was all over for the Englishman.
"I didn't mean to put it out there, and I apologize to anyone I offended, especially Gil Hanse," he said. Immediately after posting the comments, he received numerous phone calls from various people and they were all upset about his actions.
Donald had no regrets over what people were saying to him. He felt that the treatment that he received from the fans and other people was justified.
Donald's blunder will also caution numerous other outspoken players on the tour.
When one is not playing well, it is best that one quietly focus on their game, without criticizing others and that too when it is not their fault.
