Wiggins finished one second behind and occupied the second spot with Andriy Grivko of Team Astana, Carlos Barredo off Team Rabobank and Tony Martin of Team Omega Pharma-Quickstep occupied the third, the fourth and the fifth positions.
While commenting on the stage win, Durbridge briefed, “I think today I chose the right time to go off”.
“It got a little bit windier towards the end of the race and a bit wet on the corners".
"It can go way, I've been in a situation where you get the wet roads and you don't get the result you want”.
“So I flipped the coin and it landed on my side. It's a great result for me and I couldn't be happier."
The cyclist opened his 2012 winning account with a stage 3 victory at the Circuit de la Sarthe and also succeeded at the point’s classifications of the race.
He rode brilliantly during the race and managed the top overall spot at the race and also finished first during the National Time Trial Championships.
