Luke Fetch easily beats Paul van der Ploeg in second stage of Tour de Timor 2011 - Cycling News

Luke Fetch showed a good effort and took the second stage of Tour de Timor 2011 on Monday, September 12. The race started in Laclubar and ended in Beacu as a total 56 cyclists took part in the stage.
In the final kilometres, Luke Fetch and Paul van der Ploeg worked well together to take the stage victory but Luke increased his pace and took a total of 4 hours, 12 minutes and 10 seconds to cover the distance of the stage. The stage one winner Adrian Jackson
was unable to hold his pace and grabbed sixth place with the difference of 13 minutes and 35 seconds.
Jackson said, "I'm sure I'm out of the top three now. Paul and Luke will be working with their team to hold their places. It's hard when it is me and Ben working against four other guys, but we'll try our best."
Orlando da Costa also came in that group of ten cyclists and he stated that it was really hard today but that he was very happy to work in the group and also with his performance in the stage.
In the final kilometres, Fetch showed his powerful skills and managed to cross the finish line ahead of the other cyclists without any difficulty.
After winning the stage, Fetch said, "AJ and Ben Mather pretty much had the pace on from the gun, we had about six guys in the bunch, until AJ punctured. Ben stopped with AJ and we were able to get away."
Paul van der Ploeg again holds his runner-up spot with 1 second down to Fetch while Tinker Juarez finished third with a difference of 11 minutes and 20 seconds ahead of Rohin Adams and Scott Liston.
Alex Denham, Andrew Bell and Mohd Razif Mohd Salleh were in seventh, eighth and ninth place respectively.
The third stage will start in Beacu and finish in Iliomar. It will be interesting to see how Fetch performs in the next stage of the Tour de Timor 2011.
