Luke McAlister motivated to end Super Rugby career with thrilling performance - Super Rugby News
Luke McAlister, who inked a three-year contract with overseas club Toulouse last week, is excited to end his Super Rugby career in spectacular fashion.
McAlister will be seen in action for the last time in a Blues uniform whenever the New Zealander derby stops its march in the championship. His current contract with the Blues will come to an end with the conclusion of the Super Rugby season, which is now
in its final stages.
McAlister, who has the ability to play various positions on the field, has played for many clubs in his career. He was introduced by the North Harbours in 2002 and was able to attract the attention of established clubs through his extraordinary performance
there. He scored 442 points for the North Harbours in just 39 games.
McAlister made his Super Rugby and International debut respectively in 2004 and 2005. He made his International start for the All Blacks in 2005, playing against the British and Irish Lions. The star player has represented his national side in 30 matches
including four matches of Rugby World Cup 2007.
Meanwhile, McAlister will participate in his 50th Super Rugby game for the Blues in their upcoming match against the Waratahs on June 24. The fly-half is pumped to give his best performance in the remaining matches for his sides. Talking to the reporters
today, June 20, he said that he will leave no stone unturned to help his side get to the semi-final stages.
He added that, "It's something I'm really proud of. I love playing for the Blues and putting on that Blues jersey. Hopefully it's not my last, if we do the job and then go on to the semi. You can't leave any stone unturned."
McAlister also stated that, "They're a solid side up front and they like to pick-and-go and get go-forward like that and unleashing Kurtley (Beale) out the back, he's definitely a guy we're going to have to look after."
The Blues will take on the Waratahs on Friday, June 24, in the first quarter-final of Super Rugby.
