Luke Moore staying at Derby County
West Bromwich Albion striker Luke Moore has extended his loan deal with Championship side Derby County until the end of December.
Moore went to Derby at the end of September and has made eight appearances for the club to date. He has scored two goals during this time and Derby seems delighted to have secured him through December.
"Luke has come into the club and been a breath of fresh air for us," said Derby boss Nigel Clough on the Sky Sports
website.
The Derby manager has defended Moore's low goalscoring tally since he has been at the club. Clough says Moore gives everything he has whether it's in training or out on the pitch
during a game.
He has also praised Moore for the goal he scored in the recent game against Scunthorpe United. He says it's now down to the club and the player to make sure his consistency can
improve.
"He has worked exceptionally hard and we were delighted to see him score such a stunning goal against Scunthorpe recently," Clough added.
Clough has admitted that he would like to keep Moore in Derby for much longer. However, West Brom is reluctant to do this because of the busy schedule over the winter period.
West Brom does not have a huge squad and may need the striker to come back for the New Year if the side picks up a number of injuries or suspensions.
"It is fantastic news he is staying on until the end of the year and we are confident he will continue to do a job for the team," said Clough.
The news also suggests that Derby is going to let Luke Varney stay with Premier League side Blackpool. Varney's loan deal with the Tangerines expired earlier this week.
Betting advice
Moore does not have the greatest record as a striker in the Championship. However, he is hungry, determined and at a club where he will get games. Don't be afraid to have a small
bet on Moore scoring in any game before the end of December.
