Luke Patience, Stuart Bithell added to UK delegate for London Olympics 2012
Luke Patience as well as Stuart Bithell have recently been added to the list of athletes who are going to be representing the United Kingdom in the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Andy Hunt, who is the chef de mission for the Team GB, expressed himself in the following words upon the addition of the two 470 class pair sailors, “Despite having competed together for a relatively short period of time, Luke and Stuart have quickly risen
to the top of their sport. They have done so by blending their remarkable talent with an unwavering work ethic and a commitment to excellence that is the hallmark of British sailing, and we are proud to welcome them to Team GB.”
The two 25-year-old sailors were able to make it into the Olympic Games after having defeated worthy competitors. The two competitors who were up against both Patience as well as Bithell were Nick Rogers and Chris Grube while the other team comprised of
Nic Asher and Elliot Willis. Rogers has the honour of being a two-time silver medallist at the Olympic Games whereas both Asher as well as Willis are double world champions.
After the duo of Patience and Bithell was selected, the total number of British athletes who are now taking part in the London Olympics have risen to 21. The pair was able to enter into the Olympics after they made their mark in the recently held world sailing
championships that took place in Australia.
Both the sailors have been involved with the sport of sailing for a long time now. Patience began sailing when he was seven and started participating in competitions at the age of 18.
Both the sailors are going to be practicing hard to make their mark in the Olympic Games which are 200 days away. The Olympic Games are scheduled to start from the July 27 and will continue until August 12. It will be the third time that the city of London
will be playing host to the Olympic Games this year.
