Dynamo Moscow’s right back has backed his side to reach the latter stages of the UEFA Europa League after a 2-2 draw in the first-leg.
Dynamo Moscow defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luke-Wilkshire-c22937, has urged his team-mates to put their Russian Premier League worries aside when they host Dundee United in the upcoming UEFA Europa League return leg tie at Arena Khimki on Thursday.
The Moscow-based club will lock horns with the Scottish side at home after claiming a hard fought 2-2 draw during the first-leg in Scotland last week.
And Wilkshire, who joined the Dinamiki from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 back in 2008, believes that the Musora are capable of getting a good result in Europe after forgetting about their below par start to the Russian Premier League campaign.
The Policemen are at the bottom spot on the league table after suffering back-to-back defeats in the league matches against Volga Nizhny Novgorod, Zenit St. Petersburg and Spartak Moscow.
The 30-year-old defender went on to remind Dynamo about the UEFA Champions League setback in 2009/10. The Dinamiki were knocked out of the continental tournament after suffering an aggregate 2-1 defeat against Scottish giants,
Celtic, in the play-off round.
Wilkshire warned his side against complacency, insisting that they failed to progress to the later stages despite winning the away leg 1-0 against the hoops.
“Dundee was one of the most difficult choices out of all. It will be a hard match. But I hope for the best. I do not know the players of this team but I respect this team. No wonder they finished fourth in the league in Scotland. I
think tomorrow will be an attacking game.”
“Dundee managed to get a draw after struggling at home. We are ready and confident. We now have a chance to take revenge of our panicking champions League’s defeat against another Scottish side, Celtic, three years ago." The former
Bristol City stopper was quoted as saying.
Wilkshire believes that their poor league position will not affect their European ambitions, insisting that the players are working hard for the upcoming tie at home. The Australian international requested the fans to come to the
stadium in large numbers.
