Luke Young ruled out for 2 weeks; Heskey, Albrighton, Dunne make comeback for Aston Villa
It has just been confirmed that the right back of Aston Villa, Luke Young will not be available for the next two weeks as his hamstring injury continues to persist.
The medical team has confirmed that the defender is having trouble in recovery because of the injury. They have stated that slow recovery is hampering him from making a timely comeback.
The 31 year old Young was also absent last weekend from Aston Villa’s goalless draw against their derby rivals Chelsea.
The injury was received in a club training session and soon after the injury the player was sent to the medical centre where medical personnel confirmed that the player had picked up an injury, and will be out of action for
an indefinite period.
It was later explained that results from medical reports give an idea of how long a player will be out of action, and for that assessment the player was scheduled for further scans and examinations immediately.
Now the results are out which have confirmed that the Villans will be without his services for the next 2 weeks and it might just be a 3rd if the slow progress continues and an extended rehabilitation
program is opted.
With this the player is bound to miss Saturday’s match against Sunderland and the Carling Cup match against Burnely on coming Wednesday. Then in the 2nd week, he will be missing an encounter with Birmingham
City as Villans play host to them at Villa Park.
The newly appointed manager of Aston Villa who has replaced Martin O’Neill, Gerard Houllier elaborated on the situation saying, “The doctor has told me Luke will need at least another two weeks (to recover) because it is
a minor tear.”
The former Liverpool manager stated that Luke’s injury was certainly going to affect the performance of the team as he was an important veteran in the defence of Aston Villa, “It's a blow because it's worse than we initially
thought.”
This will also affect The Lions as they face lack of richness in their defensive department. But good news for Villa is that their forward Emile Heskey, attacking midfielder Marc Albrighton and defender Richard Dunne will
all be ready to make a return in the Sunderland match.
Earlier they all had picked up knocks at different intervals forcing them to be benched, but club officials have informed that there is strong possibility the players will start in the Sunderland match.
Frenchman Houllier stated on the topic, “Richard has trained normally, Marc returned to training on Monday and Emile is much better and has trained normally.”
