Luminous Park upsets Farley Zach in a close 645m race at Hall Green
Luminous Park displayed good speed and stamina in the 645 metres, Grade OR Local Parking Security Stayers at Hall Green on Tuesday, January 10, 2012. He won the race and a cash prize of £500.
The winning hound was impressive, as he was the only one to clock a time of less than 40 seconds in the race. He covered the total distance in 39.93 seconds, after having entered from trap number five.
Luminous Park had a starting price of 9 to 4, but was not the favourite dog to win. He was trained by S Mason, and he is the son of Westmead Hawk out of Lady Climber. He was born in December, 2008.
Farley Zach, who was the most favourite to win the race with a starting price of 1 to 1, disappointed his trainer K Billingham. He finished the race 0.10 seconds adrift of the winner, completing the overall distance in 40.03 seconds, after breaking
in from trap number one.
Despite giving a tough fight to the winner, Farley Zach failed to finish at the top of the table. He is the son of Hondo Black, out of Blue Honey, and was born in June, 2008.
M A Wallis trained dog, Carden Twilight, finished third. He also showed decent pace and finished close to the top two. He covered the distance in 40.13 seconds, which was not bad considering the time of the favourite hound.
Carden Twilight entered the race from trap number two, and had a starting price of 13 to 2. He was born in October, 2009, to Droopys Scolari and Twilight Fantasy.
The youngest of all dogs, Dippy Boy, finished the race in fourth position. He covered the total distance in 40.45 seconds, after breaking from trap number four. His starting price was 16 to 1.
Dippy Boy is the son of Kinloch Brae out of Malta Magic, and was born in January, 2010.
Caribbean Jazz, who was the least favourite hound to win with a starting price of 25 to 1, finished fifth. She broke in the race from trap number six, and covered the overall distance in 40.67 seconds.
Trained by J R Hall, Caribbean Jazz was born in October, 2009, to Tahina Ron and Tamna Mistress.
Delighful Aine, trained by C Allsopp, was the b***h that finished last. She went into the race from trap number three, and completed the distance in 40.83 seconds. Her starting price was 11 to 2.
The unimpressive runner is the daughter of Head Bound out of Belvedere Olivia, and was born in August, 2009.
The race was certainly a treat to watch, mainly because of a close battle at the top. However, the upset caused by Luminous Park would have surprised a few fans in the crowd.
