Question:

Lump in neck - time to see a physician?

This morning I felt a little lump under the skin that can be moved with pressure (I'm guessing an enlarged lymph node?). It isn't painful or anything.

I've also been really tired all the time and have a mildly sore throat, but I already got mono several years ago.

Should I see a doctor?

  1. I vote yes. Better safe than sorry, right?

  2. Na you'll be just fine. I had just found two little lumps in my neck not too long ago and I freaked out and went to my doctor, but she said that they are just lymph nodes and they are swollen because your body may have caught a small virus. Just keep an eye on them, give them a week and a half for the swelling to go down. If they happen to get any larger than I would go see your family doctor.

  3. You most likely have mono again. See a doctor for confirmation.

  4. Swollen lymph nodes especially in the neck area are not too concerning if you have had a major illness such as pneumonia or mono. These types of illnesses can cause your immune system to struggle for several years afterward. In fact, if you were really sick and it caused the lymph nodes to swell a lot during the illness, the lymph nodes may always remain enlarged. Also, simple runny noses that drain into the throat can cause lymph node swelling and sore throats. If you are running a fever or are having extreme fatigue or pain then time to go to the doc. Otherwise, it may be nothing try some fluids and be sure to take your vitamins and see how it goes.

  5. Id say yes. what if its cancer??
