Question:

Lump on Cats stomach

I noticed about a golf ball sized lump on my cats stomach. It doesn't appear to hurt her or bother her at all. I noticed that it is right by where her scar is from being spayed. She was spayed by PAWS before I got her. Could this be scared tissue?

Thank you

  1. golf size sounds too big for scarring. take her in to the vet. just to make sure.

  2. This is wierd. Read my question about cat lump. My cat wouldnt eat or drink so i took him to the vet. They told me he had a lump in his stomach and that they had to euthanize him. If i wanted to know what the lumps were i would have to pay for them to run tests and x-rays. He was 2 years old and just 1 month ago he was neutered by the humane society.

  3. I don't think scar tissue would be that large. I'd call your vet and ask. If you don't have a vet, call PAWS and maybe the vet there can advise you.

  4. Is the lump hard or soft?

If it is soft..you can push on it and it collapses, I will guess it is a hernia.  My oldest was too active when she was spayed and developed a hernia.  Her vet had to reopen the incision and suture the hernia.  She was sore for a few days longer than her litter-mate that didn't have any problems, but she recovered just fine and lived to the age of 17 years.

If it is hard it is possible a mammary gland tumor.  I don't think scar tissue from spay surgery would be this pronounced.

To ease your worries, schedule a wellness check-up with her vet and have him/her examine this lump.

    Purrs to you and kitty.

  5. it could be Cancer. i had a pet rat he had a lump it was cancer. i would take her to the vet if i was you.
