  1. I have no idea....you dont give many details....if this is in lieu of a disciplinary hearing then I would take whatever they offer and run.

  2. I would ask for enough to cover you whilst you are unemployed and looking for work.  I would ask for at least 3 months pay.

  3. are you kidding.....  you had to choose without knowing what it was????   that is messed up.

  4. They will typically OFFER you an amount. YOu don't get to pick the amount. YOu can negotiate for sth a bit higher, however they are the one that sets the initial amount.

I was in the same situation recently. I also took the lump sum. It does affect your self confidence negatively. :(

  5. Wow, that was pretty generous of them.  How bad was the thing that you did to make this happen?

Shoot, I'd ask for a year's salary.  Aim high.  You never know, maybe they will give it to you to get rid of you.  6 months salary would be my real target.

Just dont give them the resignation letter until you've worked out the amount.

  6. Depends on two things:

    1. How long have you been there

    2. What did you do, or rather what can they prove.

The longer you have been there and the less your employer can show the bigger the requirement.

33K over 10 years then you ask for 100K to go, let them negotiate down to 50k. You never said what you done, but by the sounds of it they are worried they don't have a case or they would have fired you. Stick yo your guns and get 50
