Luna Rossa’s Paul Campbell-James happy with team’s form as Leigh McMillan’s The Wave, Muscat leads
Despite tumbling down from first place to third, Luna Rossa’s skipper Paul Campbell-James is satisfied with his team’s performance at Cowes. Oman’s The Wave, Muscat, skippered by Leigh McMillan, replaced Luna Rossa and is now leading the overall standings
of 2011 Extreme Sailing Series Act 5 with 118 points at the end of Day 4.
Campbell-James’ Luna Rossa had been leading the overall standings since Day 1 and was in good form until Day 4, The Wave, Muscat performed brilliantly to take the top place with 118 points. Luna Rossa was nudged down at number three with 114 points, just
0.4 points behind second placed Groupe Edmond de Rothschild of France.
While speaking to the local media at the conclusion of Day 4, Campbell-James said, “Today it opened up an opportunity to get some proper full fleet racing in with some light winds so we really wanted to take full advantage of that and I think we did a pretty
good job…”
He added, “The tide was absolutely ripping and I think that caught a few people out in the beginning… It was so much more trickier conditions, more frustrating at times, but it was a good day for us.”
