Lunar 7th Month is approaching (1Aug08), what are some supertitious myths you know or want to talk about?

Lunar 7th Month is a belief that during this month, ghosts / spirits do come out... it's also known as the 'hungry ghost festivals'.

When I'm young, my grandma used to list down certain things that i'm not suppose to do... like going home late, no swimming during that month and etc.

Hope you guys can share with us your experience or encounters during that month too! Or any weird or strange myth to belief?

Ive never heard of Lunar 7th month myths but it sure sounds interesting! For me the 1st of August is Candlemas or Imbolc (Imbolc is a more Wiccan name of the holiday meaning "ewes milk" and since im not Wiccan i usually call it Candlemas) For me its a time to make plans and start anew before spring, sort of preparing the soil before the new sewing of the crop. In my beliefs the time when spirits are plentiful is Samhain (or all Hallows eve) because thats when the veil is at its thinnest, and thats on the 1st of May.....but ill look out this August anyway :)

Well, for me, I heard from Chinese people that on that month don't return home after the sun has sunk and at late hours. Plus, if you feel the presence that someone/something is walking behind you in a quiet place, don't look back. If you do look back, the ghost will follow you to your house and haunt you. If suddenly in the middle of the night, there's a sound or someone is calling your name and you didn't recognize the voice, don't call back, you'll ended up getting sick or dead. That's the same also for the presence that the person feel when they are walking. Don't look back.

If a a car (those cars carrying the coffins of the dead to their grave) past in front of you, you'll ended up dead.
