Question:

Lunch Food that Doesn't Need Warmed Up?

For some odd reason, my work has a fridge but no microwave. I hate going out to eat for lunch because it's so expensive, but I'm sick of eating peanut butter sandwiches and lunch meat every day. Does anyone know of any good lunch foods that don't need to be warmed up?

  1. salad, hummus w/ pita chips and veggies, sandwitches, or pasta salad

  2. peanut butter and lunch meat is just the tip of the iceberg(pun intended!) for lunches.  How about a fruit salad made with your choice of fruits in a light poppyseed dressing.  whole wheat crackers and a glass of skim milk and you got a lunch!

Or.....cottage cheese and diced fresh tomatoes dressed with a generous sprinkle of your fave Mrs. Dash, a container of yougurt and a nice cup of coffee or tea.

Or......7 grain bread with a spread of veggie cream cheese, sliced cucumber and tomato, Dilled Havarti cheese and some crisp lettuce. Pair that with a fresh peach, and a beverage.

Or.....A generous portion of potato salad, some crisp dill pickles, vanilla pudding and a glass of V-8 fusions.

The list is endless.  Happy lunching.

I also agree with the gal that suggested a thermos.  They are very good at keeping temperature and if you get a wide mouth one, you can take hot dish, soup, stew, chili, THAT list is endless as well.

  3. salad and sandwiches

  4. Gazpacho, wraps, cold pasta salads, pitas and hummus, fruit salad with yogurt, coleslaw and cold chicken, tabuelah, antipasto salad, chips, veggies, and salsa, chicken salad, tuna salad, cheese and fruit and crackers, tortilla roll ups, and cereal. Also, try some unusual ingredients in your sandwhich, use a different type of bread, or add some grilled veggies from last nights dinner. Good luck!

  5. cold pizza

  6. How about making egg salad, tuna salad and salmon salad sandwiches. Pasta salads, rice salad etc. Make a Pannini sandwiche the night before, it will still taste good without re-heating it. Cold pizza also tastes good and good for you
