  1. peanut butter and jelly sandwich, carrot sticks, yogurt, graham crackers, goldfish crackers, soup, apple, bananna, cheese sticks, tuna or chicken sandwich.

if you are worried that your 4 year old will not like what you pack, i found it helpful to let her help you pack the lunch, and let her make her own decisions on what she wants to pack (based on choices you can give her). that way she will be proud she helped pack her own lunch and will most likely eat it better than if you just throw in some stuff you're not sure she will eat.

    good luck!

  2. PB &J, I recommend the reduced fat peanut butter, and check to make sure the jelly doesn't have to much sugar.

  3. Tiny Pizza's:

    Prep time: about 15 minutes

    Ingredients:

1 standard-sized bagel, cut in half

    tomato sauce

    shredded mozzarella cheese

toppings like diced green pepper, chopped onion, or chopped tomato (whatever you like)

seasonings like oregano, basil, and pepper

    Directions:

Set the oven to low heat. Spread tomato sauce on each bagel half.

Sprinkle the shredded cheese all over the tomato sauce on each half.

Add your favorite toppings. Put a light sprinkling of seasonings on each half. Put your bagel halves on the baking sheet. Bake in the oven on low heat for about 5 to 8 minutes. You'll know they're done when the cheese is bubbly.

Let cool for a minute, then enjoy your tiny pizzas!

    Serves: 1

    Serving size: 2 tiny pizzas

That was one of my favorite fun recipes, here is a link with some other fun suggestions

    Also you can make;

    Sleeping Cannelloni's (so cute)

Skewers or Kabobs (these are fun to make and fun to eat, kids really like to have all the different foods to eat off a stick with their fingers!!)

Turkey burgers (mini burges with mini buns) this is a fun lunch too because they are mini!

Chicken strips (in the oven not the deep frier) with veggies

Chicken salad sandwich or tuna sandwich

Tortilla with deli meat, cream cheese and raw veggies rolled up

Hope I gave you at least a few useful suggestions... Try to mix in veggies or fruit whenever possible! Good luck!

  4. What does she eat at home?  At my son's school, they have a microwave, so I can really send whatever I want.  Get a cooler type lunch bag and some ice packs to keep everything cold.  My sons favorites are lunchmeat sandwiches and cut up hotdogs.  I always send a 3 part lunch:  an entree, fresh fruit, and either a salty snack, like goldfish crackers, or a sweet one like fruit snacks.  For drinks, chocolate milk or 100% juice and a water bottle.  I will probably start sending raw veggies soon, but right now he is only 2 1/2 and I am afraid he will choke.

  5. I have always made lunches for our children.

My first rule is fruit, fruit, fruit and more fruit. then vegetables, then meat/protein.

Here are some ideas and our children/grandchildren really like these lunches and eat all the food.

Fruit -  ,any fruit she likes. Usually  buy fresh and cut but when the fresh fruit in out of season,   buy canned fruit.  Check labels for added sugar in these. And I do not buy schild snack size in any foods as they are much more costly than larger size.

    Veggies:

Yogurt, Yogurt drinks - healthy and delicious

Cereal - Just put in bag or snack container

Cold cuts and cheese - Make rolls and leave whole or cut in pieces. Look for lower sodium cold cuts when purchasing.  String cheese - comes in many different varieties now. Good source of calcium.

Juices, flavored water pouches or the healthiest box/pouch drinks can find. Have thermos to put drinks in, saves money

I prepare 3 days worth of containers containing lunch foods on Sunday and group together in fridge  for three days so every day  can easily place in lunch container.  Add an ice pack to keep her food cold.

I  have small thermos -  sometimes  heat up soup, or left overs from night before. Especially favorite foods. To keep food in thermos hot longer put hot water in thermos prior to putting food in container.

Crackers with peanut butter or just crackers alone are also good. Puddings - nice treat or some jeelo as treat. pretzels are also ok and sometime a nice snack to chew on. Or tortilla chips, popcorn

I really enjoy packing lunches and giving all healthy lunches. Its a mom thing

  6. For drinks 100% juice box or milk, I also always pack a water bottle. For lunch I try to give two fruits or veges. Raisins, grapes, oranges, craisins, carrot sticks, yogurt. Then, pb&j, ham or other lunch meat and cheese, strawberry and cream cheese sandwiches or graham crackers with pb. Lunchables make a good treat.
