I need some good ideas for sack lunches for my daughter. She is in 2nd grade and takes a lunch everyday. I keep food cold by ice packs but there is not a microwave so nothing can be heated. She is sick and tired of sandwiches all the time but i really don't' know what else to give her. Looking for any suggestions please.

  1. maybe    a  Lunchable

  2. You do things like egg salad with crackers

Tuna wrapped in a flour tortilla

Cold pasta salad with chicken, fish, or shrimp with some very finely shredded veggies

Take your lunchmeat and put in some cheese and roll it up and put in a toothpick.

Bagels with pizza sauce and cheese and cook it up. Once cooked it can be eaten cold or room temp.

Bagel or Pretzel Crisps are great with any kind of dipping sauce.

Pretty much anything can be eaten cold. Gee I got so used to eating my leftover dinners room temp and even cold when my Daughter was younger because of her eating issues and being a preemie.

I got so use to it now I enjoy my food cold.

    Shrimp Kabobs

    Hummus

  3. A Few Easy Fool-Proof Lunch Recipes

    Cookie Cutter Sandwiches

Any sandwich cut with a large cookie cutter; star, heart,

dinosaur, animals, etc. will become an irresistible treat!

    Pin Wheel Sandwiches

Spread your child's favorite sandwich filling onto a tortilla

Roll it up and slice it into smaller pieces. Our favorite

fillings are - peanut butter and jelly, lunch meat with cream cheese or Laughing Cow Cheese®.

    Cheesy Stars

Use a small star cookie cutter to cut cheddar cheese

pieces. In a separate bag provide crackers or apple slices. You can also use the cookie cutter to cut bologna,

    ham or turkey.

    Bugs on Log

An old favorite with kids - Fill celery with cream cheese or peanut butter and top with raisins.  An equally delicious alternative to peanut butter is cream cheese or Laughing Cow Cheese®

    Smiley Face Fun

Spread peanut butter or cream cheese on a rice cake.

Make a face using raisins or any dried fruit and a full

head of hair with coconut flakes. This is a bit hard to pack for a lunch but a zip close plastic bag usually works

    pretty well.

    Cookie Dippers

Send vanilla wafer cookies along with a favorite yogurt.

Kids love to dip and this way they are getting less sugar

    than most packaged treats.

    Fun Chips

Use large cookie cutters to cut a flour tortilla or wrap.

Arrange on cookie sheet and toast in a 400 degree oven for 6-8 mins.

Send to school plain or with bean dip for dipping.

Try brushing a very small amount of olive oil or cooking spray.

Then sprinkle parmesan cheese or cinnamon sugar. If you try the cinnamon sugar, send the chips along with a container of applesauce for dipping.

    Kid’s love to dip…

Pack string cheese and rolled meat slices with a honey

    mustard dressing for dipping.

Here is also a helpful websit, that shows some really cute and fun lunches:

  4. -Maybe turn her sandwiches into wraps with tortilla shells? Fun, simple, and easy to eat!

    -Lunchables?

  5. My mom used to make lunchable type things.  She didn't like giving me actual lunchables since they're processed to she'd give me crackers, different types of meats like salami and ham and then a couple different kinds of cheese.

  6. my 2 older kids were real picky eaters and then the rule of no peanut butter came into effect when that was one of the only things they really enjoyed.

i did alot of lunchable type things as well. crackers with deli meat or sliced pepperoni  or such that fit nicely on cracker, cheese, veggies with dip etc.,  they loved my pin wheel sandwiches- cream cheese with one of the following-either green olives, cherries, or gerhkin pickles.

warming the thermos was a great saver too- you can add soup, chili, stews, or hot dogs in water-still warm at lunch time! even mac and cheese.

other ideas are/and things my younger 2 like:

fruit cups, sliced or not fresh fruit, fruit salad, devilled or hard boiled eggs, bagels,  pizza buns, make your own style pizza bun,, lots of muffins can be real nutricious and filling.(like i have a great recipe for bean muffins-cant taste the beans, pizza muffins etc.

baby carrots, celery sticks, cherry tomatoes, pasta salad, coleslaw, rice salad, mixed bean salad, pickles, nuts, the possibilities are endless- but it is hard to come up with the creativity sometimes.

if you add a few small amounts of nutricious foods and if you know she eats healthy at home for her other snacks and meals you should rest assured.

give small portions and several choices. let her help pack the lunch. leave a small note each day to let her know she is special...lunch will taste better.

and dont skip sandwiches- still send occasionaly- but maybe only half a one.

  7. My daughter HATED sandwiches in her lunch.  We ended up doing things like salads with chicken in it, wraps (banana and Nutella were a favourite) or cheese and crackers.  Also, you can do up a fruit salad, veggies and dip and since all kids love having pudding, give her some apple slices to dip instead of a spoon.

Here's a good site with lunch ideas:

    Good luck!

  8. My 2nd grader loves when I pack her a salad (it surprised me too).  Left overs are another great lunch...espcially pizza
