Question:

Lunch Packing Question: Can you freeze Juice box/bags?

Does anyone know what kinds of juice boxes or juice bags can be frozen without splitting open? My child goes to a charter school and they pack every lunch so I want to keep her lunch cool and thought about freezing the juice.

Any other ideas on cold beverages or good lunch packing tips?

  1. My sister freezes the juice boxes. I think it's easier to put the box in at room temp. That way the box doesn't sweat and make a mess. We don't mind the room temp driinks. you can also put in a small bottle of water. Or, if the lunches get too hot  pack them normally and put in an ice pack.

  2. Get some of those small Tupperware containers. I think they are a half cup. Fill with canned fruit and freeze. They will be cold and icy by time for lunch. I'm not sure about freezing the juice box. I would free one test one, tear it open and make sure it didn't break. One thing my Mom did that made every kid so jealous in the lunch room was she took my thermos and filled it with chicken noodle soup, then she tied a string through a hot dog and dropped it into the soup. She packed the bun inside my lunchbox in aluminum foil so it didn't get crushed. Then one of those fruit cups. Yummy!!! And every kid wanted to know: Where did you get the hotdog???  haha

  3. Capri Suns are the best for freezing. They act as an icepak till lunch, so that makes them serve 2 purposes! They now make ones that are 100% juice, which is what I prefer.
