  1. I love oysters. Just make sure the place you order from is reputable, clean, and sells a lot of oysters. (They are more likely to be fresh that way.)

My friend's father died of Vibrio from oysters he ate in South Florida. It was a horrible tragedy, but a very rare occurrence.

  2. There's a great risk in eating raw shellfish. You'd be much better off trying cooked (fried are terrific) oysters. Chances are you'd like them more too.

  3. That s***s nasty

  4. Yes, you should order them. They are not only delicious but also a great source of protein.

Since it is your first time, I would encourage you to squeeze plenty of fresh lemon juice on them, and if you like a little spice, then add a bit of horseradish and a drop or two of tabasco.

Bit of advice - eat the entire oyster at once, don't take bites of it.

I hope this helps. Good luck and happy eating!

  5. Do not eat raw oysters!  Vibrio vulnificus is a horrible way to die.  If you are immuno-compromised at all or drink alcohol or are a diabetic you are at a higher risk; it's not worth it.

Hepatitis A is also found in raw oysters.  Even those oysters that have special treatment that will kill the bacteria, but not the virus.  Please stay away from eating raw oysters.

Go to Google image or someplace like that and see what V. vulnificus does to you; people rarely survive.  Your skin explodes off of you after turning black.

  6. they are pretty good if you know how to eat them but start out with one first not a half-dozen just to try it
