Luo Ying, Luo Yu trounce Wen Hsing, Yu Chin in final match of Australian Open GP Gold

The spirited Chinese girls Luo Ying and Luo Yu fetched the Women’s Doubles crown for their country by overpowering the rival duo of Cheng Wen Hsing-Chien Yu Chin of Chinese Taipei in title match of Australian Open GP Gold on April 8, 2012.
The scratch pair Luo Ying-Luo Yu, who played flawless badminton throughout the event, continued their successful run at the judgment day and stamped their higher ranked opponents with final figures of 12-21, 21-18 and 21-17.
The epic tussle was a tough test of abilities for both finalists as it prolonged to three exhausting sets which took 60 minutes to get resolved.
The youngsters Luo Ying and Luo Yu proved lazy bones in opening game of the match and their World Number nine opponents Wen Hsing-Yu Chin did not squander the opportunity and bagged the first match point with great ease.
In first half of the set, both couples remained close to each other on the scoreboard but the Taipei shuttlers accelerated their pace and scored five points in no time to reach at the 11-5 score position.
After the interval, the twosome of Luo Ying and Luo Yu earned some quick points and created threat to their rival’s supremacy but it was not enough to come out of nine-point deficit and they knelt down after reading 12-21 score on the board.
However, the talented Chinese pair bounced back in very next game and turned their rivals’ plan of straight-set victory into dust.
Both teams did not allow each other to establish a decent lead in first part of the set and stayed at same level with 6-6 score position but Women’s Doubles experts Luo Ying and Luo Yu displayed superior badminton skills and took their score to 11 by scoring
five consecutive points.
The Taipei ladies could not match their rival’s skills in later part and lost the crucial set with 18-21 score on the board.
The decider saw both teams sweating hard to outclass the opponent as the match kept swinging between the finalists until the 13-13 score position.
At this time, the Chinese girls played some master strokes and won five consecutive points. The Taipei couple Wen Hsing-Yu Chin was gone with the wind after this final blow.
The victorious duo Luo Ying-Luo Yu sealed the glory with 21-17 score in their favour.
