Luuk de Jong’s agent, Louis Laros, has insisted that his client is ready and eager to take the next step in his career by joining a top European club this summer.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 Enschede striker had a tremendous 2011/12 season, netting 25 goals while setting up eight more in 31 Eredivisie appearances.
His impressive showings upfront in the season ended have garnered him interest from a host of elite European clubs including Borussia Monchengladbach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and Newcastle United, who are keen to secure his signature this summer.
However, the Tukkers management have reportedly set a mammoth price tag on their prized asset to ward off interest from the suitors.
Louis Laros, De Jong’s agent, has now revealed that his client has set his heart on a move away from De Grolsch Veste this summer, and has expressed hope that the club management demand a reasonable asking price.
“We've made it clear to Twente that De Jong is ready for his next step. The important thing considered by him will be how serious the sporting project is. We are not overly concerned about the money, what matters more to De Jong
is the club's plans and how they plan to use him. I hope that Twente do not lose sight of reality though, and demand only a fair market price”, Laros was quoted as saying to Voetbal International.
Meanwhile, FC Twente head coach, Steve McClaren, has made it clear that his side does not want to let go of the Dutch international this summer.
“There are more than just rumours. There is obvious interest as everyone knows. Of course we want to keep Luke de Jong and we want to keep our squad of players as it is. We want to build and not to take players away”, the former

De Jong, who has thus far played 76 Eredivisie matches and netted 39 goals for the Tukkers, has an ongoing contract at De Grolsch Veste that runs until the 2013/14 season.
