The FC Twente Enschede striker’s chances of staying at De Grolsch Veste have further diminished as the 21-year-old has agreed personal terms with the Bundesliga side after passing a medical at Stadion im Borussia-Park.
Reports in Dutch and German media confirm that Borussia Monchengladbach have successfully agreed terms with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luuk-de-Jong-c22956. The 21-year-old passed a medical at Stadion im Borussia-Park, and has put pen
to a five-year contract.
However, the Bundesliga side have yet to reach an agreement with the Tukkers over the striker’s transfer fee.
Die Fohlen sold their prolific striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Reus-c23733, to Borussia Dortmund earlier this summer, and since then, the German club has been targeting the Dutch hit-man as the German international’s replacement.
The Tukkers management, however, made it clear that they do not want to sell their star striker in the ongoing summer transfer market.
Joop Munsterman, the Eredivisie side president, stressed that his side does not intend to lose the young striker, and will only think about letting go of the Dutch talisman this summer, if an offer in excess of 20 million Euros
comes in.
Nonetheless, it seems like De Jong, who has his heart set on a move to Stadion im Borussia-Park before the 2012/13 season kicks-off, has now moved one step closer to joining the Bundesliga outfit after agreeing personal terms with
the club.
With the youngster keen to move away from De Grolsch Veste before the ongoing summer transfer window slams shut, it seems like that the Twente management will be forced to sell their prized asset.
The Dutch striker, who has represented http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 National football team in seven matches, arrived at De Grolsch Veste at the start of the 2009/10 season after making 14 appearances for De Graafschap. The technically gifted hit-man
has thus far netted 39 goals in 76 Eredivisie appearances while donning the jersey of FC Twente.
Ranier Bonhof, Borussia Monchengladbach vice-president, has stressed that his side has made sensible acquisitions this summer.
“We have made sensible and smart transfers. The depth of our squad is getting better. Every player has quality now”, Bohof said while talking to journalists.
