The 21-year-old had a prolific 2011/12 season, netting an impressive 25 goals while providing eight valuable assists as well in 32 Eredivisie matches.

youngster this summer.
However, the Tukkers management have thus far shown unwillingness to let go of their prized asset, who has a contract at De Grolsch Veste that runs until the 2013/14 season.
De Jong, who has thus far donned the jersey of FC Twente in close to 100 league matches, has made it clear that he does not want to stay at the Enschede giants.
“I had hoped not to be here any more. Moreover, I did not want to say anything about it. Everyone has read everything, so it seems to me that my point is clear”, the youngster was quoted as saying to De Telegraaf.
The Tukkers head coach, Steve McClaren, and the club president, Joop Munsterman, recently expressed their annoyance at the Dutch hit-man, who is eager to leave the club before the 2012/13 season kicks-off.
However, following their statement, it seems highly unlikely that the Dutchman would be moving away to ply his trade elsewhere.
De Jong, who is on the road to recovery following his tonsils operation, has revealed that he has joined the Tukkers pre-season training camp just to recover at the earliest and gain full match fitness.
“I hope to get fit. That's why I'm here. I lost two kilos when I had my tonsils taken out, and you can really notice that”, the Dutch international concluded.
