Luxembourg Boxing Federation wants Haye vs. Chisora to happen – Boxing News
The Luxembourg Boxing Federation is supporting David Haye’s fight against Dereck Chisora, despite being warned of expulsion by the European Boxing Union. According to the organisers, the bout will be held as planned and scheduled and no changes will be made
to the card whatsoever. The bout will be held at the Upton Park next on July 14, the same day when Amir Khan will face Danny Garcia.
The match is being sanctioned by the Luxembourg Boxing Federation, since none of the fighter holds a British boxing license. Frank Warren, manager for Dereck Chisora, has already taken a stance against the BBBC for warning officials of expulsion from the
board if they participate. He also released a statement regarding whether the LBF is supporting the show or not. His statement read, “Therefore the LBF is backing the show along with the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) and the World Boxing Association (WBA),
whose' International and Intercontinental titles will be contested, and the promotion will definitely go ahead.”
Last week, Warren said that he would support anyone who will participate in the event. It should be noted here that even the WBC has supported the BBBC’s decision of revoking licenses of anyone who participates in the event, including managers, promoters
and fighters.
Warren, who is now against the BBBC, said last week, “I intend to issue proceedings next week and will support all other licence-holders who feel intimidated into not participating in the Haye v Chisora promotion. I may not be the only one suing the Board.”
He further added that the BBBC has also stopped fighters like Kevin Mitchell to participate in the event. Since Warren manages Kevin, he was highly disappointed with the decision. According to him, Kevin was looking forward to the opportunity of fighting
in front of the crowd at West Ham but now it will not happen.
For now, the BBBC and the WBC is against the event, whereas the Luxembourg Boxing Federation is sanctioning the event. If the European Boxing Union decides to expel the LFB from the union, it will be another issue for the Haye vs. Chisora event.
