  1. All Paris (including the Luxembourg RER station) is in the zone 1. For a single trip inside Paris, you need one standard ticket called "T+ ticket". This tickets allows you either a metro/RER trip or a bus/tram trip. This ticket costs €1.60 (or €11,40 a bunch of 10 tickets).

However, I just checked on Google Maps to see where is avenue Charles de Gaulle in Paris: there is actually no avenue Charles de Gaulle in Paris!

In Paris, there is "Place Charles de Gaulle" and a bridge "Pont Charles de Gaulle". There are "Avenue Charles de Gaulle" in some suburbian like Neuilly-sur-Seine, Suresnes, Malakoff, Boulogne-Billancourt, Bois-Colombes, Charenton-le-Pont and Saint-Maur-des-Fossés.

I suppose you mean Avenue Charles de Gaulle in Neuilly because it is a big street very close to Paris. The metro line 1 goes under this street so the most convenient would be to take the metro 1 up to the station "Châtelet" and then switch to the RER B to reach the station "Luxembourg". You need one T+ ticket for the whole trip. (Do not loose your ticket after getting into the metro station because you will need it again to reach the RER and to get out the RER station.)

  2. The Euroline coach station is in Bagnolet, a town just outside Paris. Yes, your métro is Galliéni on line 3 (zone 2).

All of Paris is in zone 1 (suburbs are in zones 2 to 6) so you just take a regular métro ticket (1.60€). They are valid on the whole métro network regardless of the zone and on the RER in zone 1 (Paris proper). It allows as many transfers as you want as long as you don't exit the network.

Luxembourg is an RER stop in Paris, so no problem. However, from Galliéni to Luxembourg, you'll have two transfers, which is a pain with luggage. If your hotel is not far from the Odéon métro stop, it would be easier to just go to Odéon. What is your final address?

    In any case, to Luxembourg:

Take métro line 3 to Réaumur-Sébastopol. Transfer onto line 4 in the direction of Porte d'Orléans to Les Halles. Transfer onto RER B in the direction of Robinson/St-Rémy-les-Chevreuse to Luxembourg.

If you choose to go to Odéon, it is on line 4 so once you are on line 4, just stay on it for a few more stops as far as Odéon instead of taking RER B.

Here is a map of the network: http://www.ratp.info/orienter/cv/cv_en/c...

The French version shows you the zones outside Paris:

If you will be staying a few days and travelling a lot in Paris, you may want to buy a bunch of 10 métro tickets (= "un carnet") for 11.40 € instead of just one. It will be much cheaper.

PS: Métro lines are numbered (1 to 14). RER lines go by letters (A to D) and they are thicker on the map.

  3. Every address in Paris proper is in zone 1 or 2.

Avenue Charles de Gaule is rather imprecise. Exactly what is the address?

    EDIT:

No problems then. You can take the metro and change a couple of times on the RER to get to the Luxembourg RER station but its easier and quicker to take a combination of the Metro and a bus.

Take the Metro line 3 marked "Direction : Pont de Levallois-Becon" to the Opera stop and then take Bus #27 marked "Direction : Porte d'Ivry - Clude Regaud" to the Luxembourg stop.

This is as good as I can get knowing only that you want to go to the area of Luxembourg RER station. There might be an even easier route if I knew the precise destination address.

EDIT#2: I think the route I already suggested is the best. Chocobn is right that the Odeon Metro station is an alternative but then you will be faced with a fairly long uphill walk.  I'm very familiar with the area you're going to and had an apartment just around the corner last October.
