  1. there are some hotels better than the royal house, it have no swimming pool, what you look in a hotel, only the Egyptian entertainment nights???

  2. I have heard of The Luxor Palace hotel but know very little about it.

The best thing to do when panning a trip to Egypt is get a copy of the Lonely Planet Guide to Egypt.

You will get independent reviews made by secret travellers and they cover all accommodation from budget to 5 star.

Any hotel or hostel that is not in the guide is excluded for a purpose.

You will find rates and what facilities each hotel offers as well as a location map and contact phone numbers and websites were applicable

The Guide is well worth its purchase for many reasons other than just accommodation,it has some great tips, reviews and suggestions for restaurants and entertainment venues. There is also a section on what you should and should do when in Egypt. .

You will find entrance fees and opening times for most historical sights and ideas for one ,two or three day intineries for those who have some free time before or after completing an escorted tour.

Even after living in Luxor,Egypt for over 2 years I still carry my copy around everywhere I go.

  3. Not me.. honest

  4. We actually stayed in the New Windsor Hotel in Luxor just last week.  Although I don't regret our vacation and will cherish the memories of all the ancient monuments....honestly (and I hate to admit this) I will never go to Luxor again.  The people were absolutely horrible to us.  What I mean is, from the moment we walked outside of our hotel to the moment we made our retreat back inside...people were running up to us or riding up to us on their carriages demanding/begging us to buy things.  They do not let up!!!  It is constant, constant harrasment that just does not end.  Then you just have the poor who beg for money.

As American tourist we were taken advantage of during our entire stay and were short on money by the time we arrived to Luxor but did get in one of their carriages simply because walking was not possible.  They have a network of harrasment to force tourist to spend their money with a carriage ride.  So we get in and tell the person that all we want to do is go back to our hotel room.  He promises us that is where he will take us.  Instead he takes us all over the city, dropping us off at shops to spend money.  (They get a kick-back of all sales).  You get into these shops where you are harrased into buying things....it is just awful.  This was actually done to us in Cairo and Aswan as well but much worse in Luxor.

As for our hotel...it was okay.  I still wore shower slippers and used a mattress pad that I brought from home.

    Good luck.

  5. haven't stayed there, but i remember being inside it a few years ago, and there were anamatronic talking camels, (i was 12) and it was very pretty inside =].

  6. I wouldn't advise staying there, its a cheap budget hotel. No hotel really has 'Egyptian Entertainment', however there are belly dancing clubs etc that you can go to, the night life is actually pretty rubbish in Luxor but the sites make up for it! Make sure you go to the Sound and Light show though at Karnak one night.

When you say the Palace do you mean the Nile Palace? - If thats what you mean then thats a beautiful hotel. I would advise anyone to go stay at the Isis, its just by the Nile Palace, they do all inclusive aswell which saves a lot on the drink / food bill, the food is good there, service is excellent, its not badly priced and the swimming pool is really nice, if you do stay there then ask for a Nile View room, you can see all the way to the mountains of Thebes that way which is quite a breath taking view.

As for entertainment, the Isis usually have something going on in the bar of a night.
