Lydia Ko remains unstoppable at the U.S. Women's Amateur
The world’s number one amateur player Lydia Ko is one of the most successful players in U.S. Women's Amateur. She has managed to retain her winning streak and will now play in the quarterfinals.
Ko started the U.S. Women's Amateur on a positive note. After surviving the early round of the stroke play qualifying stage, she managed to dominate the final round. She lost out to South Korea’s Hyo-Joo Kim. Ko finished second with a margin of just one
stroke.
This win gave Ko the much needed confidence and she moved to the first round of the second stage. This round is known as the round of 64. Ko played against Amy Beth Simanton and won easily with a final score of 4 and 3.
The next stage is known as the round of 32. Here Ko played against Amy Anderson of Oxbow. This match proved to be interesting as Amy Beth Simanton played a great game. Ko won the game with a score of 3 and 2.
So far, Ko had been playing a remarkable game. The next round was the round of 16. This match proved to be the most entertaining match of the Ko’s entire stay at the championship. She was paired with Celine Boutier, the French player.
Once the match started, it quickly became clear that Ko will dominate the match. She ended the game with a 1 up victory. This win paved the way for Ko to play in the quarterfinals of the U.S. Women's Amateur.
