Lydia Ko shines in Women’s Top 10
The top 10 ranking of the women golf still holds many surprises. Two players, in particular, have captured the news for entirely different reasons.
The first name is Lydia Ko. This rising star of golf has already captured the top most position in the amateur golf and is now the number one amateur player in the world.
The New Zealander is considered a formidable opponent and is well known for her quick climbs up the leaderboard in the latter stages of the tournaments.
Recently, she played in the CN Canadian Women's Open with some excellent results. She won the event by a clear margin of three strokes. The competition was very close and at times it appeared that Ko might have to go home with the second prize.
While, Ko is number one in the world amateur rankings, she is still number 45 on the pro golfer rankings. This could prove to be a source of annoyance for the 15-year-old player but for now, she is content with her amateur status.
Talking about her situation, she commented much to everyone’s surprise that she is in no hurry to turn professional. She said that she still has much to learn about golf before she plays the sport professionally.
The next name is that of Yani Tseng. In the light of her recent performance, many people have wondered aloud about her ranking as the world number one pro golfer. Bad form has plagued her since the start of the year.
She has missed the cut in a number of important events. At first, it was put down as a wrist injury but when a pattern started to emerge, tongues start to wag about her poor form.
She did appear to play a substantially below average game at the events where she played in the final rounds.
Yani Tseng has said that she is over the bad patch. In the recent Safeway Classic Presented by Coca-Cola, she managed to finish in the 11th place. However, her 35th place in the recent CN Canadian Women's Open has again raised some
doubts about her claims of recovery.
