  1. h**l NO THEY CAN'T.

  2. no jail, not a crime

    but they can fire you

  3. No, but lying in general is not good. If you aren't qualified for the job, don't even bother applying. You may be taking a job away from someone who actually has an education.

  4. jail is out of the question. What more than likely will happen is that the employer will let go of you because you have a problem with telling the truth. Maybe, and I do mean maybe, Some employers might show pity on you and let you get your GED in so much time and allow you to keep your job.

  5. As long as its not a government job you can lie about whatever you want. No-one checks whetheryou have a hs diploma or ged. Its pretty pathetic to lie about having a ged because thats not much of an achievement.

  6. Likely ...No...just fire you.....

IF IF  IF...it is a security job that has you SWEAR UNDER PENALTY OF PERJURY about your past...like working in sensitive areas of an airport...they have the ability to...but USUALLY don't.....

  7. no but they could fire you

  8. No. Only the government can imprison you. Even assuming it's a crime, it's not something the state is likely to prosecute.

Your prospective employer can choose not to hire you.

If they do, and then find out you lied, they can fire you, and they can give you a bad recommendation to other employers. They can (but won't) sue you unless your lie actually caused them some damage.

Just go get the GED. Obviously, you need to have it to get jobs.

  9. no, dont sweat it! i see it constantly when evaluating former employees.  but, go get it for real....for your own sake.

  10. No. But they could fire you at any time without warning, even years from now and you won't expect it.

  11. No, but they can fire you

  12. No it would just be fraudulent application and grounds for termination. Why don't you you wanna tell about having a GED its New Mexico 50% of people in NM don't even have that, if the job doesn't require a 2-4 yr degree they'll except a GED the same as they'll except a diploma. Don't think I'm hating on NM I'm from Albuquerque a.nd I'm like 1 out of many of my friends that have a diploma, most of them have GED's or nothing at all.

  13. of course not.  they can fire you or not.  its their call, but jail is not an outcome of that.  unless of course that employeer is the military and you lied on a federal form.  that might be a different case.
