Question:

Lying breech at 35 weeks?

Hi all,

I've just been to see my midwife and my baby is lying breech at 35 weeks. She's made an appointment to see the hospital about turning her but wondered if anyone has been through this? Did your baby turn after being breech till this time? What's the turning process like? What risks come with it? What are the chances she'll turn back? Would anyone recommend against turning and just going for the c-section?

I know I can ask all these questions at the hospital but would like some advice and opinions from 'real mums'!

P.S - For those who answered my question about being sick yesterday - turns out that's why - cos she's head-butting my stomach!

Thanks all in advance.

  1. hi there I'm not sure if its different with twins but when i was pregnant with my twins the first born was head first but the second was breech and i still had a completely natural birth but i would not advise turning that is not a nice feeling i hope everything works out for u all the best

  2. Try turning her on your own. Get on your hands and knees and rock side to side. supposedly this works, my friend tried it and it worked for her. I hear the turning process is extremely painful, only because they are putting a ton of pressure on your belly and baby to get her to move. Try the rocking

  3. im not a mum, but i was breech right before the birth.. a big thing in my family was that the midwife kept saying she could see the head and then realised it wasn't the head after all :D

I had ot be delivered by c-section, which im sure wasnt THAT bad

  4. As far as I was aware, manipulation to turn a breech baby longer happens. If a baby is a breech at due date then a planned Cesarean will go ahead.

Go for a walk, take a ride in a car on a bumpy road, sleep on your left side. You still have time for the baby to turn. Mine has been breech for the last 4wks up until yesterday! I took a long walk with our dog and slept on my left and bambino has turned.

Not that I would turn my nose up at a cesarean anyway. I think I would prefer it after listening to three friends who have all had natural births and cesareans with their 2nd baby's. They all say a cesarean is preferred. Just preference.

  5. At my 34 week appointment i was told mine was breech. At my 35 it still was but then it fliped at 36 weeks but now i'm sure it's the wrong way again it feels like it is to me i'll find out friday....but aways....when they first told me he's still breech i asked about flipping and my doc told me the times he has tried it all ended in an emegency c-section. So i was just going to go for the c-section

O and aftrer reading the first post i thought i'd add my sister had this done it did work but she was black and blue all over the tummy and it hurt really bad

  6. you still have time for your baby to turn!! mine did at 38 weeks, best of luck hun...

  7. My son was breech he was feet first and would not turn i had no choice but to have a section it is uncomfortable i know but at least you will be given a date and a time if you have to have c hopefully the baby will turn for you good luck as natural birth is a wonderful experience

  8. My sister in law had her son turned and he turned back several times.  When she went into labour he turned on his own.

  9. I had the ECV done with my 1st and it didn't work. It was pretty uncomfortable but I had an epi for it. Just lots of pressure, they gave me a shot to try and mature her lungs because it can cause you to go into labor. I know 3 other people who've done it and it worked for all of them. Also like someone else mentioned the exercise on your hands and knees can work as well. There's also something chiropractors can do that is supposed to be pretty successful.

I highly reccomend at least trying everything you can to get her to turn rather then just going to a c-section. Because of my c-sections I now have scarring and lining problems and may lose the baby I'm currently carrying : (
