Lyle Overbay’s triple RBIs help Arizona Diamondbacks rout Philadelphia Phillies 3-2 - MLB Update

Arizona Diamondbacks’ first baseman, Lyle Overbay had a remarkable day as he hit three RBIs and went 3-for-4 with an average of .232 in the Diamondbacks’ 3-2 win against Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park, Philadelphia on August 16.
During first inning, both teams were unable to take runs. Diamondbacks’ short-stop Willie Bloomquist popped out to second base, at centre-field Ryan Roberts flied out and Justin Upton struck-out without adding any run at the top of the first inning. Similarly,
Phillies’ second baseman, Chase Utley singled off centre-field but at first base, Jimmy Rollins grounded out and Shane Victorino popped out.
Diamondbacks got off to a decent start at the top of second inning as Overbay drove a single-run shot towards right-field and Chris Young posted a single run to give his team a 1-0 lead. Third and fourth innings were also score-less as the pitchers threw
accurately. Diamondbacks’ starter, Josh Collmenter pitched just over six innings and struck-out eight batters with an ERA of 3.47.
Collmenter surrendered just two runs, eight hits, one walk, one home-run and two earned runs on his 106 pitches. On the other side, Phillies went ahead 2-1 by taking two runs at the bottom of fifth inning. Victorino struck a two-run homer towards right-field
while Rollins scored one run to take the Phillies on top.
Overbay commented on the game and said, “It's a good situation. I couldn't ask for anything better.”
Diamondbacks’ manager Kirk Gibson said, “We gave him a quick version of, 'Here we go,'. He'll fit right in for us. These guys have composure when we're behind," Gibson said. "These guys are a quick strike team.”
Phillies were leading until the eighth as the pitchers did not yield any run to the batters from sixth to eighth inning. Diamondbacks’ batters missed some scoring chances at the top of eighth inning as Kelly Johnson hit for Joe Paterson but Bloomquist and
Roberts both were struck-out without taking any run.
In ninth inning, Diamondbacks added two runs to their respective score-card and went ahead 3-2. Overbay doubled to deep right-centre while Justin Upton and Collin Cowgill both contributed two collective runs. Later on, Overbay moved to third base on a throwing
error.
However, Diamondbacks led off the three-game series 1-0, after having an exciting victory.
