Lynch shines as Seahawks intercept Vince Young to outplay Eagles – NFL Recap
Philadelphia Eagles missed their regular quarterback Michael Vick, who is injured with two broken ribs, more than ever as his backup, Vince Young, threw four interceptions only to further stain the record of the team that lost
the game against Seattle Seahawks 31-14 in the week 13 of the National Football League current season on Thursday.
At the CenturyLink Field, Seahawks’ running back Marshawn Lynch made full use of the chances he got and rushed for 148 yards, scoring two touchdowns to seal fifth victory of the season for his team.
"It was all about the offensive line. We managed the game, we came out victorious, everybody's happy, and now we're on to our break," Lynch said
Lynch opened the account for Seahawks by scoring a touchdown after a 15-yard run in the first quarter. Early in the second quarter, he came in the action again and rushed for 40 yards to score another touchdown, and took the lead
to 14-0.
Eagles tried to fight back when LeSean McCoy scored a touchdown, but his one-yard run was responded by a 49-yard field goal from Steven Hauschka and the halftime score settled at 17-7.
The third quarter belonged completely to Seahawks. The only scoring move in the quarter came when wide receiver Golden Tate caught an 11-yard pass from Tarvaris Jackson to score a touchdown, taking the lead to 24-7.
Eagles attempted to resist and move forward in the fourth quarter, but could only manage one scoring move. At 12:51, McCoy scored another touchdown after catching a two-yard pass from Vince Young.
Every time Eagles scored, Seahawks had an answer for them. They retorted again when David Hawthorne managed a 77-yard interception-return, scoring a touchdown to add more points to the score. The final score settled at 31-14.
It was the fifth victory of the season for Seahawks that are ranked second in the National Football Conference West division.
The eighth loss for Eagles has placed them at the bottom of the NFC East division. Eagles’ coach Andy Reid accepted that Lynch played well and his defence could not contain him.
"He was the key today to their offense," Reid said about Lynch. "And we didn't do a very good job of stopping him."
Eagles’ linebacker Jamar Chaney also admitted that Lynch outplayed them.
“I don’t even think he was touched,” said Chaney. “He got through the hole and got to the sideline and it was wide open from there.”
