Lynette Ng conquers Women’s 50m back-stroke gold medal - Singapore National Swimming Championships
Lynette Ng of Swimfast Aquatic Club conquered the gold medal of the Women’s 50m back-stroke on the final day of the 2011 Singapore National Swimming Championships.
The Singapore Nationals are a six-day international meet, which provides a chance to international swimmers to participate against each other in their respective swimming events.
The 22-year-old Ng sustained her fastest qualification spot into the finals and touched the finishing wall for gold medal, by producing a spectacular swim of 30.26 seconds. Her time was 0.94 seconds away from the meet record of 29.20 seconds, made by Jia
Yi Shana Lim in 2009. She was also 1.19 seconds away from the FINA A-Time Qualification Standard of 29.07 seconds, while she remained only 0.46 seconds behind the FINA B-Time Standard of 29.80 seconds.
Lynette Ng was almost one second away from her following swimmer, Ginn Samantha Louisa Yeo of Ace Swim Club, who followed her on the podium for the silver medal, by clocking in a time of 31.19 seconds. The 13-year-old Yeo was followed by h*i Ying Stacy Tan
of Aquatic Performance Swim Club, who followed her on the finishing wall, by posting a time of 32.14 seconds.
The fourth fastest spot on the podium was secured by Indian swimmer, Arti Ghorpade, who concluded her swim in a nice timing of 32.64 seconds. Ghorpade was only 0.19 seconds ahead of her closest competitor, h*i min Anissa Lye of Ace Swim Club, who touched
the finishing wall in a fifth fastest time of  32.83 seconds.
In addition, Jolene Tan of Chinese Swimming Club S’Pore was the sixth fastest swimmer to emerge on the finishing wall, as she stayed 0.14 seconds behind Lye and ended her swim in a time of 32.97 seconds. May Chua of Singapore Island Country Club completed
her swim in the eighth place, by touching the wall in a time of 33.76 seconds.
Ng was delighted with her golden effort in the meet and expressed that she will work hard to continue her dominance in the upcoming swimming events.
