Lynnwood, Washington-- where do your hands have to be on the steering wheel?

I'm going to take my drivers test here soon and my parents keep getting on me about keeping my hands at 10 and 2 on the steering wheel. I keep saying "I think as long as they're on the steering wheel I'll be okay"... but in all honesty as I think about it I'm not SURE... it's just a assumption.

I guess I'm looking for comments from people who have taken the test and haven't had their hands on 10 and 2. Did you get points docked?

  1. I keep mines @ 9:45 and 2:17.  What matters is that you are relaxed and not tensed up while driving.

  2. On the eastcoast, you need to have 2 hands on the steering wheel at all times during the test. i keep mine at the 10 and 2 and i'm fine and remember during the test that you must have a hand on the steering wheel at all times. Don't take both hands off when you're turning.

    hope this helps.
