Lynton Matti wins The Anglian Energy Solutions Stakes
Lynton Matt,  a black dog trained by S J Cull, ran as the 6 to 4 favourite in The Anglian Energy Solutions Stakes on Wednesday, February 8 at Peterborough racing track and finished first by 2 ¼ lengths.
In the 420m Grade A6 contest, the dashing dog broke from trap 5, and took 26.37 seconds to reach the boundary strap, winning a race after a gap of seven consecutive defeats. He last won on December 2, 2011.
Though he had been out-of-form for since the last couple of months, but the bookmakers invested on him overwhelmingly last night.
Before the start of the race, there was great uncertainty about Lynton Matti’s performance in the minds of many analysts.
When the break call came on 20:40, the three-year-old dog broke with sheer enthusiasm. With every passing second, he continued to increase his speed till completing the distance comfortably. None of his competitors dared to challenge him.
Whelped in July 2009, the son of Westmead Joe out, of Patterdale Nina started his career on January 7, 2011. He accomplished a fabulous hat-trick in March-April, 2011. Overall, he has achieved 8 triumphs so far.
Cull seemed to be greatly pleased yesterday. He applauded his trainee a lot. It is expected that this victory will boost up the dog’s morale, and he is likely to do well in the coming events.
The R C Creckendon-trained b***h, Caz Gem, finished second in the race. After breaking from trap 2, the black b***h bridged the distance in 26.54 seconds. She ran well but was not be able to increase her pace with the changing situation. The daughter
of Smoking Ban, out of Droopys Diamond was whelped in September, 2006.
The third top spot in the race went to Bohereen Artist. The D R Jinks-trained veteran b***h fought hard against Caz Gem, but got trailed by just .03 seconds. Breaking from trap 3, she reached the finish line in 26.57 seconds.
Among the other three hounds, Weeber Rossi finished fourth, while Effernogue Bran and Tahiti Sunrise grabbed fifth and sixth spots, respectively.
At the end of the race, the winner walked away with the cash prize worth of £58, while each of the other hounds got £13.
