Bernard Lacombe, advisor to the French club Olympique Lyonnais, has strongly advised against the selling of their in-demand goalkeeper Hugo Lloris
The captain of the national team as well as the captain of Lyon has attracted strong interest from clubs, with Tottenham Hotspur reportedly leading the race to land the signature of the 25-year-old.
Though, the highly-rated shot-stopper has been subject to offers from White Hart Lane, rumours suggest that the London club has not yet come up with any substantial offer for the Lyon star to turn the heads of the hierarchy of the Ligue 1 outfit.
The situation however, is likely to change if the English giants are able to sell Luka Modric to Real Madrid. The influx of funds generated from the potential sale of Modric is definitely going to boost the interest of Spurs in the goalkeeper again as the
club is currently failing to meet Lyon’s valuation of the player.
Lacombe believes that the former OGC Nice player is a key to Lyon in the coming seasons just the way he was important in the previous years, and only an offer worthy of the stature of the player needs to be given attention to.
In his brief chat with French radio station RMC, the advisor said, “Where Lloris is concerned he must remain at Lyon and not go to Tottenham”, though the Frenchman did concede his vulnerability when he added that “Of course, until the transfer window closes
you never know”. He went on to add that, “If Modric goes to Madrid, something could happen”.
Although, Lacombe believes that even if the English club eventually comes up with an improved offer, the club still should not let their player leave the club this summer as the French International is a major part of the plans of the club.
Lacombe said, “But once the season starts, the departure of Hugo is not sufficiently interesting. He wants to stay at Lyon, unless there is a very important proposal on the table for him and the club.”
It is to be seen in the days to come, whether Spurs come up with an improved offer for the player, renewing their interest in the Frenchman or, decide to look elsewhere in the market.
