http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 have still a long way to go in a bid to balance their books as the club from Rhone has registered a cumulative loss of 28 million euros for the fiscal 2012/2013
Two days back, Ligue 1 outfit, LOSC Lille announced profits of around 3 million euros for the 2012/2013 fiscal year. And last night, it was Olympique Lyonnais’ turn to publish their results of the 2012/2013 calendar.
However, the figures show a grim reading of where the club might be heading. For the 2012/2013 season, Les Gones have reported a net loss of 28 million euros. More alarmingly, the turnover fell from 154.6 million euros to 147.1 million euros last season.
In a statement published on their official website, the club reassured fans about its future by saying that a strategic plan has been implemented by the board which aims at significantly reducing the payroll. This degreasing operation will eventually allow
Groupe OL to balance the books for the 2013/2014 season.
“Implementation of a strategic plan adopted by the board last season, which includes a significant reduction in the payroll should allow Groupe OL to return to balance its books for the operation of the 2013/2014 season,” read a statement on the club’s website.
Through this, OL have already started curing their financial woes by selling some of the players who were never really going to be a part of Remi Garde’s plans in the near future. And, in order to make sure that the degreasing operation remains intact, club
president, Jean-Michel Aulas has said that he will be looking to sell a few more players in the upcoming winter transfer window.
The main reason for this is that the club is also working on the project of a new stadium, Stade http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Du-c11689 Lumieres. Besides the early work on the construction side, the Vinci group, the company that’s playing a huge role in the stadium’s construction, have claimed
that the stadium would be up and running for the 2015/2016 season.
In order to maintain its lofty ambitions and keep in touch with the modern standards of football, Olympique Lyonnais and its directors understand the importance of having a new stadium so they are willing to maintain a low profile in order to do that.
