Lyon will come to Santiago Bernabéu seeking a positive result – La Liga News
Olympique Lyon manager, Remi Garde in unfazed by Real Madrid and stated he will sent his charges to get a positive result. Los Blancos welcome the French team to Santiago Bernabéu on Tuesday, October 18.
Garde is aware of the threat Spanish giant’s possess and found time to praise his counterpart, Jose Mourinho for his excellent work at the club.
Lyon travel to Madrid in search of a positive result, which will propel them to the top of Group D. In their previous group matches, they have drawn with Ajax and beaten Dinamo Zagreb to claim second spot.
Garde is in his first year in Lyon’s dugout, and has guided his team to 3rd place in Ligue 1.
During a press conference, the French manager praised his opposing number. Garde especially pointed out the way the Portuguese handles his players, and how he is able to get their respect.
"I admire Mourinho because he knows how to treat the players and he can get their respect," he said during a press conference.
"He has several coaching years behind him and he has won many titles. He treats players in an individual way, but always inside a group.” Garde commented.
Garde is aware of the capability of his squad and rejected any notion of failure in this important Champions League fixture.
"All scenarios that include us getting points at the Santiago Bernabeu are positive, but I do not want to predict a result," he continued.
"It will be a hard task because Madrid are a collective and individual machine. They have many weapons, but we will not be victims. I want to get a positive result."
Real Madrid and Lyon have encountered each other in the previous two editions of the Champions League. Los Blancos overcame the French team last year in the Round of 16-stage. However, they were on the losing side in the run-in the previous year, as Lyon
dumped them out of the tournament in the same stage.
