Question:

Lyoto Machida?

I think it's obvious that Machida can make the best case for number 1 contender in the Light Heavyweight Division. But do you think he should get a title shot a Jackson just yet? Part of me wants to see a Machida vs. Shogun Rua. But besides that, how can you argue any other Light Heavyweight for a title shot right now?

  1. i dont think hes read just yet but hes very close. if he beats shogun, lidell, wandy or some one else thats ranked high then yes. if he wins jus 2 more then yes he should get a shot but right now i dont beleive so. but i do see him wearing the belt in the future though

  2. i think machida deserves a title shot before griffin for sure. but rashad deserves one too. i think rua needs to fight lidell than the winner of that should fight rashad or machida to see whose gettin the title shot. i wanna see rua back in the game.

  3. You could argue that Jardine deserved it if he beat Wandy but now I have to agree that Machida deserves to be the number one contender.

  4. Personally I love Machida's style. Its very smart, and it shows that MMA is far from being "coc fights"... ANY MAN has a good chance of going down if they are not using some kind of strategy so arguments that he would get knocked out if he fought head on sound VERY STUPID to me because any man can be knocked out!

Ok so back to your question. Yes he is clearly in line for a championship fight.  I think he is more than ready for Jackson. I would love to see that fight. Rua may be the most talented fighter in the division but he will need to work his way up the UFC. Its hard to make a case for anybody going ahead of him... Maybe from a marketing  stand point if I was running the UFC I would go for Silva simply because he has beaten Jackson twice. But besides him nobody else deserves the shot.

  5. As a Forrest Griffin fan, the prospect of this silent, proficient man Machida frightens me.  He wastes no energy and does what he needs to do to win.  I want Forrest to be the light heavyweight champ, I think Forrest would be a better spokesman for the sport.

Machida v. Evans...a match up of two skilled, quiet men.

  6. First of all Lyoto Machida did NOT beat BJ Penn! Anyone who watched that fight would agree!

The judges were watching a different fight!

  7. Lyoto Machida has beat Franklin, Ortiz and Penn (despite what the earlier guy said, he won). He should definitely be (at the very least) considered for the number 1 contender position.

  8. He's an overrated MMA fighter with no hands...this j*p wants no part of Jackson, and furthermore, I agree that he has not earned the chance to even fight Jackson.  If he can beat Rua, the Griffin, they may give him the chance.

Last night was very disappointing....Machida ran most of the fight, had some great moments, but know that Tito in his prime would have worn that guy out.  No stand up, toe to toe hands, which will be his demise.

  9. LYOTO MACHIDA IS THE MOST BORING FIGHTER I HAVE EVER SEEN. IF HE GOES IN AND TRIES TO BRAWL WITH SOMEONE HE WILL GET DESTROYED I REPEAT DESTROYED. HE ATTACKES AND RUNS.

  10. People have a hard time accepting the fact that a Karate Master can be successful in MMA.  And for the guy who called Machida a "j*p" he's actually Brazilian, but nevetheless I applaud you for the classy choice of words.

  11. I would be ok with that.  Forrest other then beating Rua has not beat that many good guys and he's getting a title shot because everyone likes him.  He got beat by Tito and KO'ed by Jardine so go figure.
