I'm 15...

and I've never had any dance lessons...

and I'm thinking of either taking lyrical/contemporary, modern/contemporary, or jazz

(i actually wanted to take ballet....but ballet classes for girls my age wasn't available...)

which dance class would you recommend?...

I really want to learn a lot of technique and get alot of excercise (i need to lose weight)...and of course....it needs to be alot of fun *^ ^*...lol

part of the reason i wanna take a dance lesson is because i have show choir and for me to be part of the advanced show choir i need to audition.....and right now i got into the intermediate show choir.

and another reason is cause i really like musical theatre....

an musical theatre needs singing, acting, AND dancing...

  1. Out of these three, for your situation I'd reccommend jazz. Modern requires more experience. Jazz is really fun. I think you will like it. Good Luck =]

  2. lyrical/contemporary! I think it's kind of like ballet, but so much better and really emotional and a great way to express yourself. It'sa beautiful type of dance.

  3. Modern is definitely my favorite style of dance and lyrical is amazing as well, but for musical theater, I would suggest jazz. It's the most commonly used technique for what you're interested in. Ask if you can drop-in and take a trial class. You can test the waters and get an idea of what to expect. They are all beautiful styles of dance I would strongly suggest trying all three =]

  4. lyrical/contemporary

    :)

i take jazz.. it's really fun.

    good luck! :)

  5. modern is my favorite type of dance because you can express yourself soo much...but im pretty sure if you look elsewhere you can find  ballet class for your age group, cause ballet can really help.

  6. i suggest jazz. im 14 and have been dancing for years. jazz is the most basic class and the best to start with. i started with ballet of course but then picked up a jazz class and then a contemorary. it will be a lot easisr to start lyrical or modern with jazz under your belt.

    :) good luck

  7. i think if you're just starting out, you should take jazz. once you get some more experience, lyrical is really pretty. then modern, because that takes the less dance technique, in my opinion, but still a lot of training.
