M-14/M1As firearms class?

Hey again everybody,

I wanted to find out this time, whether an only semi-auto fire and 5 clip M1A/M-14 is either non-restricted or restricted within Canada (doesn't matter which manufacturer, from Springfield armoury to Norinco). I know the SOCOM is probably prohibited due to the short barrel length though.

And a bonus question, why are shotguns such as the Mossberg 500 priced so low while decent bolt action rifles are worth at least 250 dollars more?

Thanks!

  1. Contact the Canada Customs Service or Canadian Province you wish to hunt or take the rifle into.

  2. I'll answer part of your question about the Mossberg.... Its economics... Mossberg has produced so many millions of these 500's that the unit cost to produce them is actualy low. This savings is passed on to the consumer... They dont have to retool the factory so to speak like a car manufacturer because theres a different model out every 4 years.... The same applys to the Remington 870 and the Ruger 10/22 rifle.. Millions have been made!!! ---- On the other hand lets say you want a Savage rifle chambered in .270.... Savage has to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for designs, testing, tooling a production facilty and advertisements. And they will NOT sell millions of these so they have to recoup these investments and make a profit. This is part of the reason why a good bolt gun costs so much......
