M.J. Hur ties for second in second round of Navistar LPGA Classic 2012
South Korean M.J. Hur posted an explosive 65 in the second round of Navistar LPGA Classic 2012, taking the second spot along with American Mindy Kim.
Hur was not among the strongest players before the Navistar LPGA Classic 2012 kicked off at Prattville, Alabama, United States, but she has shown her worth by grabbing the second position in the second round.
The South Korean star kicked off the round on Friday with a clear strategy because she knew that the only way to remain in contention was to avoid scoring bogeys. She was able to steer clear of bogeys and
her shots looked more perfect than ever before.
She parred the first four holes and launched her first birdie on the par-5 fifth hole. On the back nine, Hur performed much better as she posted several birdies to cement her position on the leaderboard.
She shot five straight birdies from the 10th through to the 14th hole. She then parred the 15th and swung into action once again, draining yet another birdie on the difficult par-3 16th.
Commentators said that Hur’s performance was stunning right from the start as she did not miss any chance she gained early in the day. They said that outrivaling most of the strongest rivals in the first
two rounds has given the South Korean golfer plenty of confidence and she will try to keep the momentum going in the final two rounds.
Speaking to the LPGA Tour at the end of the second round, Hur said that it was nice posting a good score in the two rounds, but playing along with American Mindy Kim was the best experience.
“It was pretty fantastic round with her. We just started on 10th tee first. I think we almost make a same score, like five straight birdie on 10 through 14 and some other holes. We had a really great round
with each other,” the LPGA star said.
When asked what it felt like to play in a tough field, Hur said: “You know, I have a cold a little bit from last week, from British. Before I started today, my feel wasn't good, so I thought about it's going
to be tough day today. But made three birdie ‑‑ after made three birdies, my conditions are way better”.
