M Locke trained Johnny Dash, 5 to 4 favourite bags the Coral On TV Standard Trophy at Romford on 2nd January
The New Year’s racing for the greyhounds began at Romford on 2nd January. The three heats of the Coral On TV Standard Trophy were the main feature races of the evening’s meeting, bagged by M Locke's Johnny Dash. Each one of
them was raced over a distance of 400 metres and offered a prize money of £150.
The first heat was a test for the six hounds participating.
There were two entries from D Mullins and the same by E Gaskin. Besides these two, the other trainers were David Pruhs and P Curtin.
Melodys Express, son of Express Ego out of Melodys Daisy born in October, 2009, was quick to speed up after leaving the fourth stall, and started leading the lot in a little while, making it to the wire in 23.97 seconds. D Mullins was awarded with
the £150 purse.
Forced back by a difference of six lengths was the runner up of the race, Strawpedo Joe, trained by E Gaskin. The son of Go Wild Teddy out of Wise Actress was able to manage the track distance in 24.45 seconds.
The 5 to 2 favourite of the race, Devotion Jac, was able to retain the third position in the race.

Trained by David Pruhs, she led away from the second stall quickly but faced obstacles, which compromised her speed and she finished the race in 24.51 seconds.
The second heat was won by A Ingram trained Beat Then Becks, who covered the 400 metre distance in 24.22 seconds.

The son of Droopys Kewell out of Beat Them Millie paced up soon after leaving the fifth gate and took command of the track when he was half way through.
The runner up of the race was, Oscars Blurr, under J Reynolds’ charge, who clocked the distance in 24.30 seconds.

The 5 to 4 favourite of the race, Rockview Royal, finished fourth to the winner.
The third and final heat of the race was claimed by the 5 to 4 favourite of the race, Johnny Dash, who clocked the distance in 23.81 seconds, hitting the least possible time to race through the wire among the three heats.
M Locke trained Johnny Dash won the Coral On TV Standard Trophy, striking his fourth career win out of eleven starts.  He has been sent as a favourite six times, four of them being in the last four races.
